Vera Weber is a musical artist whose work is driven by a fascination with world-building, atmospheric storytelling, creative collaboration, and the interplay of sound and image. Weber works primarily as a music composer for film and television. Weber regularly produces records for other artists and co-writes and co-composes across a wide range of genres, projects, and media.
A CalArts alum, Weber is active in Los Angeles’s experimental music community as a composer, performer, improviser, and multimedia installation artist, often incorporating analog photography and 16mm film into her work. Her artistic practice and performances have spanned everything from DIY venues to renowned stages such as Carnegie Hall, Zipper Hall, REDCAT, and The Troubadour. Weber has performed internationally throughout the US, Mexico, China, and Europe.
Film Music
Vera Weber is an award-winning film score composer from Los Angeles, known for bold melodic themes, immersive textures, and unique music production. Appealing to directors seeking original, modern, and unconventional storytelling, Weber’s work typically spans drama, thrillers, crime, period pieces, horror, as well as coming-of-age and young adult stories. In recent years, Weber composed the music for two limited series and over ten feature-length films, spanning both network television and theatrical release. Often working for productions based in Europe, Weber’s scoring and session work can be heard on major broadcasters including Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, Sky, ZDF, ZDFneo, and ARD.
Weber also writes songs for film, contributing original songs for Netflix’s thriller series Woman of the Dead (Season 2), released by Milan Records and Sony Music France. Weber’s song “Rosebud” received a Hollywood Music in Media Award nomination for Best Song in a Limited Series, placing her alongside Lady Gaga, Evanescence, and Twenty One Pilots in one of the ceremony’s most competitive categories.
Weber is bilingual and comes from a long lineage of musicians from the rural villages in the Black Forest. She grew up learning composition from her father, Matthias Weber, through years of collaboration and mentorship, and the two continue to work together as composers today. Together they received a German Television Academy Award, and Vera also contributed additional music to Matthias’s feature film score for A Whole Life (Ein Ganzes Leben), which premiered at the Zurich Film Festival and went on to receive multiple German Film Academy Award nominations.
Previously, Vera worked as an in-house Staff Composer at Hans Zimmer's Bleeding Fingers Music / Extreme Music in Santa Monica, one of the industry's largest television music production operations.
Weber loves what she does and continues to collaborate with filmmakers and composers on projects both large and small.
