FILM MUSIC BIO
Vera Weber is an award-winning film composer and musician from Los Angeles. Known for emotionally resonant themes and hybrid electro-acoustic textures, her music balances minimalism with bold personal expression. Appealing to directors seeking original, unconventional storytelling, Weber is a versatile multi-instrumentalist working primarily across drama, thrillers, period pieces, horror, and youth-oriented projects. Working primarily in Germany and across Europe, Weber’s film scoring and session work can be heard on major broadcasters and platforms including Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, Sky, ZDF, ZDFneo, and ARD. Trained in classical piano, her primary instruments include vocals, synthesizers, harpsichord, prepared-piano, guitar, and electronics.
In addition to film scores, Weber is also an accomplished songwriter, notably writing and producing original songs for Netflix’s thriller series Woman of the Dead (Season 2), released by Milan Records and Sony Music France. Weber’s song “Rosebud” was nominated for Best Song in a Limited Series at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards, a highly competitive category alongside Lady Gaga, Evanescence, and Twenty One Pilots.
Weber comes from a long lineage of musicians from the rural villages in the Black Forest. She grew up learning composition from her father, Matthias Weber, through years of collaboration and supportive mentorship. Together, they recently won a German Television Academy award for their duo score to the feature film Die Stille am Ende der Nacht, which prominently features Weber’s vocals in the main theme. Additionally, Vera composed additional music to the feature film A Whole Life, which premiered at the Zurich Film Festival and was nominated for several German academy awards (Lola Awards).
In Los Angeles, Vera has previously worked as a staff composer at Hans Zimmer’s Bleeding Fingers Custom Music, and continues to collaborate with LA-based filmmakers and local musicians.
Outside of film music, Weber’s practice spans alt-pop, indie, ambient, rock, folk, baroque, contemporary classical, experimental music, free improvisation and multi-media art, including analog film and photography. Her new music & art portfolio can be found above under New Music & Multimedia.
As a recording and performing artist, Weber appears in spaces ranging from DIY venues to stages such as Carnegie Hall, Zipper Hall, REDCAT, and The Troubadour, and has toured internationally in China and Mexico. Alongside her own projects, she occasionally produces albums for other artists.
